The Honda S2000 has never stopped being special. Even decades after its debut, it remains the gold standard for how a front-engine, rear-drive roadster should feel. Now the Racing Hondas Championship has brought that magic back to the grid with the S2000R, a stripped, caged, and aero-equipped evolution built for the next generation of racers.
With 240 horsepower, a low and wide stance, and the unmistakable sound of VTEC at full song, the S2000R turns nostalgia into lap times. The prototype has already completed its shakedown at Donington Park with Luke Sedzikowski behind the wheel and made its live debut at Oulton Park. It initially ran in Class B but will headline its own S2000 Cup class in 2026.

Tegiwa, one of the United Kingdom’s leading Honda specialists, has developed complete build kits and components for enthusiasts to create their own S2000R for about £16,000 including the donor car. The first three builds even earn free full-season entries for 2026, a welcome nod to grassroots racers who want serious performance without breaking the bank.
Carl McKellar, Championship Coordinator, says it best: “The S2000 enjoys iconic status, so giving it a fresh lease of life in Racing Hondas with this competition version was only fitting. It was developed for rear-wheel-drive enthusiasts looking for a cost-effective season of club racing in 2026.”

Every detail of the S2000R is designed to honor that legacy, right down to the wheels that connect it to the tarmac. The Motegi MR162 Zentoku blends modern and golden-era Honda tuning style with a split five-spoke design that nods to heritage while embracing the future. Constructed using Flow Formed Technology, the Zentoku delivers lightweight performance, reduced unsprung weight, and the durability demanded by both street and track. Available in fitments for the S2000, NSX, RSX, Civic Type R, and Integra Type S, as well as other Japanese and Korean performance icons, it offers style that spans generations.
On track, the MR162 Zentoku is more than just good looks. Its strength and precision help the S2000R stay composed through corners, while its low weight keeps steering sharp and responsive. It is the difference between turning laps and setting records.

As the S2000R enters its own championship next season, it carries forward one of Honda’s most celebrated legacies, and Motegi’s MR162 Zentoku wheels make sure every ounce of that heritage grips the pavement where it belongs.
Honda built the legend. Racing Hondas gave it a new stage. Motegi made sure it sticks.
